TrueType fonts are used for presentations, and will display smooth type on your Macintosh screen. They will also print well on both PostScript and non-PostScript laser printers. The screen fonts will give readable type to look at on screen. The separate files are PostScript printer fonts which allow smooth printing on any printer. PostScript printer fonts should be on the same level as your other font suitcases—do not put them into a suitcase or additional folder. NOTE: If you are creating a high-quality output document (i.e. having it professionally printed from film, etc.) remove the TrueType fonts from your system and create a document only using screen and printer fonts as occassionally there is a font conflict when using an outside service bureau.
• TRUETYPE FONTS - Limited license to use
The TrueType fonts on this CD are licensed for use by Apple employees, but not for general use outside of Apple. The license for use by “providers” (i.e. dealers, VARS) only permits displaying and printing of documents and samples on this CD. (The only exception is Apple Garamond and N Helvetica Narrow, which may be used by Apple "Providers". See comments under "Apple Garamond - Licensing.) Non-Apple employees may not copy, distribute, or use them for any other purpose. If you want to use these fonts for other purposes, you’ll need to purchase the Apple Font Pack for Macintosh. On the internal version of ARPLE for Apple employees only, the Font Pack is in the Applications folder.
To use them, copy them from the Limited License TrueType folder to your own font folder, placing them on the same level as other font suitcases.

• APPLE GARAMOND - Limited license to use
Apple Garamond is Apple’s corporate typeface. By consistently using the same typeface in our external communications, we have built up a recognizable style that helps our customers quickly identify our messages and our products.
LICENSING:
Apple has obtained a worldwide site license for the Apple Garamond typeface from Bitstream, a major digital type foundry. The license allows Apple employees and “providers” (i.e. dealers, VARS) to copy and use the typeface for their work for Apple. It does NOT permit giving the font to a customer, even to run an Apple presentation or read an Apple publication on their own. If you present to a customer and download the font to a customer’s computer for that purpose, it must be removed from the customer’s computer before you leave.
On this disk you will find a folder labeled Apple Garamond. It includes three other folders: TrueType Fonts, Screen Fonts, and PostScript Fonts. Each folder contains a complete set of the fonts that make up the Apple Garamond typeface family. The family includes three weights: light, book, and bold. Each weight has both a roman (plain) and an italic version.
NOTES RE INSTALLATION:
If you already have a version of Garamond, you should probably discard it to avoid confusion. (However, some people may need to keep an old version for revising publications that use it. Apple Garamond has unique font ID numbers and should not conflict with any existing fonts—that is, both Apple Garamond and other versions of Garamond will show up in font menus at the same time.)
To use Adobe Type Manager (ATM) with Apple Garamond, you need to install the 10-point and 12-point screen fonts in your System file. The Apple Garamond PostScript fonts must also be in the System Folder.
ATM will work with TrueType, which is built into System 7. However, if ATM is installed under System 7 and both TrueType and PostScript versions of the same font are present, the TrueType version will be used for screen and printer imaging.
If you are using a version of system software that is earlier than System 7, you will need to use the Font/DA Mover to install the screen fonts in your System file. You will also need to drag the PostScript fonts into your System Folder.
